Dan Heywood – Quality gardening in and around Norwich
From lawn care and hedge cutting to year-round care and development of your entire garden, I will always strive to keep your garden as healthy and well-maintained as possible.
Quality maintenance will keep your garden looking at its best throughout the year.
From re-planting a tired area of your garden to a complete transformation, I offer a personalised service, helping you to get more out of your garden.
When maintaining gardens I always keep an eye out for practical ways in which they can be improved upon. Plant positioning, for example, or ideas for new plant combinations.
Alongside regular garden maintenance I can take care of most tree issues you may have. I am NPTC qualified in chainsaw use.
If you are a keen gardener yourself (or plan on becoming one) I am always happy to act as a ‘garden tutor’ in order to help you get the most out of your garden in the future.
I have ten years’ of experience in maintaining, tweeking and generally getting the most out of plants and gardens.
Garden maintenance doesn’t have to solely involvemaintaining what’s there.
Most gardens benefit from maintenance and development ; a gradual ‘organic’ form of garden design.
Gardens don’t stay still. That’s one of the things I love about them. They are living and breathing environments, differing from season to season and year to year.
An important job of the gardener is to influence this development, where necessary, by:
- improving upon planting layout and combinations,
- introducing new plants,
- renovating old plants,
- thinking of ways to enhance what’s there.
Even small changes to the planting of a garden can make a real difference year-round to the overall aesthetic and feel.
With the right choice of plants you can, for example, have year round colour and interest in the garden.
Similarly, changes and improvements to the planting can be made with wildlife in mind. Your garden can become a healthy, vibrant ecosystem and one you will share with beneficial and beautiful pollinating insects.
Or perhaps you are hoping to make your garden ‘low maintenance’. With the correct choice of plants this can be easily achieved.
I am a firm believer in the ‘right plant, right place’ principle, and can find planting solutions for any demanding areas of your garden. Dry shade, for example, or thin, chalky soil.

Quite simply, Dan does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it. He is reliable and the quality of his work and attention to detail is first class.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful work you’ve put into the garden over the years.
Dan really took the whole family’s needs for the garden in to consideration and created a design that we all love. He cleverly zoned the garden which makes the small space feel more spacious and interesting and gives both adults and kids their own areas of the garden.
Having worked with several gardeners it has been so helpful to have someone such as Dan who has been totally reliable, great in keeping in contact and thoughtful about keeping things tidy.
Our school has extensive grounds and we struggled to find a good gardener until Dan came along. Dan offers a very rare service: he is efficient, creative, reliable and affordable.
